About the event

Shama/There | Thalia Hoffman | 20 min | 2016

During the course of 24 hours, people and cargo pile into a truck located on a refugee trail in the Judea-plain. Women and men of different ages, speaking Hebrew and Arabic, jump into the back of the open truck, one after the other. They huddle together as more and more is loaded onto the truck. Stuck between past and future, this moment of confusion slowly unfolds into a metaphor for life. Watch segment.

500 Dunam on the Moon | Rachel Leah Jones | 47 min | 2002

Parallel narratives have never been so ironically portrayed than in the story of the popular Israeli artists’ colony Ein Hod, known to Palestinians displaced by the conflict as Ein Houd. Upon discovering the abandoned ruins of the Arab village, Ein Houd, French architect Marcel Janco decided to preserve what was left—it later become a Dadaist artists' retreat. Watch trailer.

Screening will be followed by Israeli filmmakers speaking about the themes covered in the film.
